MEPEACE Leadership Training for 2010
MEPEACE is committed to developing volunteers online and on the ground - to be our leaders in 2010 and beyond. A select group of Israelis and Palestinians will benefit from two leadership workshops - in January and February. The organization will select participants and require their full commitment. Preference will be given to MEPEACE Volunteers.
We are developing leadership and partnerships with the KUMI process which aims to empower groups and individuals to articulate and implement strategies for effective organisational development and coalition building, creative conflict engagement and attitudinal change.
Spaces are limited. For a chance to participate, email us at mepeace.org@gmail.com ASAP and tell us why you want to join and how you can contribute to MEPEACE.
The Kumi Process:
Preparation and Focus: Introduction, current situation, description of the operating environment, and focus of our work for the week.
Vision and Obstacles: articulate a collective vision for the future of our societies over the next five years and identify the obstacles that are preventing us from realising this vision.
Antagonism and Resonance: Explore collective narratives and experience the impact of these different narratives on each other.
Contradiction and Transcendence: Analyse the contradiction (perceived mutually exclusive goals) and understand the power relations, roles of various conflict parties and what realities in the deep structure and deep culture are fueling and sustaining the conflict contradiction.
Strategy and Action: Reframe in some detail the practical vision, revisit the obstacles, and then decide on practical strategic directions to overcome the obstacles. Move forward and create action plans, working teams and time-lined steps to translate our vision into a reality.
If you have an interest in contributing to MEPEACE, communicate with us at mepeace.org@gmail.com.
