I would say that one of my favorites is "Imagine" by John Lennon.
I am sure there are plenty in Arabic and Hebrew. Is there an album dedicated to peace?

Pete Seger with Peter, Paul and Mary;

This simple and pithy (and thus very real and realistic) song is about life and not mere property. Written by Pete Seger in 1955, it is about the futility of wars. Many versions were recorded.

My favorite recording of it is the first one made by Peter, Paul and Mary, sometime in the 1960's. That recording is my favorite because Mary Travis' haunting voice was at its peak then. I could not find a copy of that recording.

This very special version was recorded in the 1990's at a tribute concert to Harold Leventhal, some 30 years after the original PPM recording. What makes this recording (and embedded commentary) special for me is that Pete Seger joins them and that despite premature maturity (for example, Mary is no longer lithe and trim, taut and terrific, and needs a walking stick), the words and Mary's haunting voice (the package) was then and still is for me timeless and true. It was also so for young and old at that tribute concert to Harold Leventhal in the 1990's, some 40 years after Pete Seger wrote the song.

Peter, Paul and Mary sing "Blowing in the Wind" and "Give Peace A Chance". John Denver joins them for the second song..

Basil I didn't say western things were created by Christians for Christians. Things are objective, as I was trying to say. I said that about the concept, or myth, of "the west." Europe is just that part of Asia that became Christian. That was "Chri…
