Developing Partnerships between and within communities

The Center for Emerging Futures, which has adopted the Middle East Project as a primary initiative, is providing administrative support for the efforts which are emerging from the partnerships of people from opposing sides. Dialogue groups have formed with a focus on using compassionate listening to connect with each other and then moving directly to finding those small, personal and very powerful opportunities to move from dialogue to action.

Examples:

* Forming a women's cooperative for widows in two Palestinian villages to begin to produce crafts for sale in the Middle East and in America.
* Getting a computer and internet connection for a village so it can begin to participate in email exchanges between Israeli, Palestinian and European school children
* Forming a "sister city" relationship between a West Bank, an Israeli, and an American city - the first candidates are Bethlehem in the West Bank; Holon, Israel; and Boise, Idaho.
* Mutual training in Open Space and World Café techniques for community members in Israel and Palestine

The Middle East Project has no political agenda.
