Sowing Seeds Of Peace
Micheal Teal

I am a global gardener
Sowing seeds of peace
My love of humanity
Inspires and nourishes me
We must embrace our sacredness
We must be ambassadors of light
We must respect the earth
We must savor every breath
We must invoke self awareness
We must manifest the life we desire
I am a global gardener
Sowing seeds of peace
My love of humanity
Inspires and nourishes me
I bless the heart of the world
I seek to foster greater harmony
I live life in a conscious way
I seek the path to belonging
I believe in the power of community
I honor and celebrate life
I am a global gardener
Sowing seeds of peace
My love of humanity
Inspires and nourishes me
You are heaped with blessings
You are touched by genius
You are a vessel of expression
You are aligned with a higher goal
You are a student of truth
You are gentleness and love
I am a global gardener
Sowing seeds of peace
My love of humanity
Inspires and nourishes me
To survive we must all see the peace within us all and seek to
cultivate a lifetime of joy while creating environments which serve the
betterment of humankind. To survive we must transcend the ordinary
while exploring diverse worlds and recognizing the sacredness in each
and every one of us. To survive we must listen to whisperings of our
souls while generating joy and harmony. To survive we must acknowledge
the limitless enrichment of the human spirit while embracing truth and
inspiring joy.
I am peace, I am freedom, I am Human, and I am Sacred
You are peace, You are freedom, You are human, You are sacred
We are peace, We are freedom, We are human, We are sacred
I am a global gardener
Sowing seeds of peace
My love of humanity
Inspires and nourishes me
Let us all be gardeners that this may be a world where peace blossoms
and freedom is in abundance.

"One of the most persistent ambiguities that we face is that everybody talks about peace as a goal. However, it does not take sharpest-eyed sophistication to discern that while everbody talks about peace, peace has become practically nobody's business among the power-wielders. Many men cry Peace! Peace! but they refuse to do the things that make for peace."
Martin Luther King, Jr.

The True Peace
Black Elk
The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of men when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells Wakan-Tanka, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us. This is the real peace, and the others are but reflections of this. The second peace is that which is made between two individuals, and the third is that which is made between two nations. But above all you should understand that there can never be peace between nations until there is first known that true peace, which, as I have often said, is within the souls of men.

In a peaceful time

Come. Sit with me and behold the moment

Reflect of the young world. Of the Fathers.

Hear the Peace in the wind, the Love of Mother Earth

And take with you the Promise

The Promise of Rebirth. ~ Peace ~

Earth Day Poem 2009

To the Mother that bore us, nurtured us, fed us
From the bountiful orchards that sustained our growth,
She gave us life, nourishment, safety, and thus
I write for Her today, hereby taking an oath
To pay homage to the Mother from whom we came.

As toddlers, we began to crawl over the earth
And new to it's harmony we did not understand,
We claimed lands greedily, increasing our girth.
She watched with annoyance, and tried to demand That we be generous, to share what we claimed.

Still we grew, and learned more, and followed the seasons
Impressionable as Mother tried to show us the way.
Then we chose to rebel, soon beginning the treason
Of growing our own foods, and not wandering, but staying
To Manipulate soils. We were never the same.

Leaning on Mother and not truly living
Taking all that She had, claiming it as our own.
We took species and waters; we'd take without giving
Finding lands of enchantment we'd strip down to the bone.
Demolishing everything without any aim.
And now, through the weeping of willows, She cries
She recalls the childhood of Her prodigal child.
And prays for a time we can have a reprise
Of when we wandered the world, its beauty beguiled.
Her pains to reprove. Our efforts to tame.

We have not looked back, though. And Mother gets older,
And soon we may lose Her, and we have discovered
That Mother now may need to rest on our shoulder
She's weary and beaten, and may not recover.
And now She is weakened. And we are to blame.

Now...

We hope and we pray that our Mother will be here
To watch over our children, watch them grow and play
To take up Her guidance and never to fear
That Mother might not have more to give away.
That our children will not take up their parent's shame.

So to She who has given us life and protection.
We know our mistakes, we'll make up for it now.
This day, Mother Earth Day, we sit in reflection.
To Her, we're indebted, and this we avow:
We'll take care of our Mother from whom we came.

And Joy is Everywhere;
It is in the Earth's green covering of grass;
In the blue serenity of the Sky;
In the reckless exuberance of Spring;
In the severe abstinence of gray Winter;
In the Living flesh that animates our bodily frame;
In the perfect poise of the Human figure, noble and upright;
In Living;
In the exercise of all our powers;
In the acquisition of Knowledge;
in fighting evils...
Joy is there Everywhere.
Rabindranath Tagore

I agree Oliver. It is interesting that honest attempts at communication are often greeted in places like this with jeers and patronising and derogatory presumptions about the perceived other's "real" intentions.

Yes, Paul, communication is crucial indeed. "Simplistic slogans" won't help in the long term, that's clear. But honest and clear communication requires courageousness on all sides. Slogans are, in my view, often (as you also imply above) an 'indiv...
