Comment by Janet Hudgins, Vancouver, Canada on April 19, 2008 at 8:13pm: I can't get it through my head: how does a mature adult, given the privilege of leading his country (there have been women), enlist, brainwash and force thousands of the fittest and most intelligent only of his youth, anyone under the age of consent, into battle to be murdered or maimed—mentally for sure, physically probably—for life, likely a fate worse than death. And he does all this rather than find other solutions, even to talk to the designated enemy. I'll never understand but I can see that someday, long after I'm dead, people might have become civilized enough to have come through this horrible period in our history to look back on it in wonder and ask the same questions I do: how, why?
