My personal story:

As a Jordanian Muslim from a non Palestinian background, I grew up in a family respected by the Jordanian people, the establishment, as well as the long standing regional leadership. My extended family created and signed the Peace Treaty with Israel and is comprised of serious military leaders and Sheiks respected throughout the region. I spent a portion of my life in Washington DC as my father was the military attaché to the United States as well as in South Carolina as I was sent to study in the military academy at The Citadel. We spent most of our summers between Paris and London, therefore I genuinely feel the nuanced differences of each location and how it connects to this region. I can simultaneously understand the mindset of my people, as well as understand the needs and goals of Israel which I believe stems from my time abroad. I have no doubt, very different opinions and views from those that will be in the Atkin Fellowship, however I believe in mutual pragmatic understanding and education.

Why I want peace:

I do not claim that I can change the status quo, but I know that I can hope to make a difference, and work hard towards making a difference, trying to set an example to my people, introduce them to a glimpse of what their future can be if they work for it …
