Hi Jeff..glad to be in touch with u :) It s really interesting your activity..me too in next future i would like to use creativity to break divisions, to help developping the intercultural/interreligiuos dialogue !! I think words sometimes are not the best solutions because they reproduce the same mental scheme, cultural patterns that can not be understood one to the other.. maybe in June i will attend a training course in serbia about the use of creativity and sports to establish bridges of communication between cultures.. i would like to take part in one of your murales :))
For the moment i send u a sincere hug from Italy..
hoping to cooperate in future,
with love,
silvia!

Hey,

Thanks for your friendship, I'm finding this online community to be so welcoming and thoughtful, I'm really loving it.

I also am loving the mural project. I'm flirting with the idea of doing something like that in the neighborhood that I live in, the south of Tel Aviv. Our neighborhood is characterized mostly by foreign workers and African refugees, people that the Israeli society has yet to accept. I think that a physical mural in the neighborhood would really make people feel like they belong.

Any advice about doing a project like this?

Profile Information

Hometown:
West Orange, NJ
Relationship Status:
Single
My personal story:
I am the co-founder of Where Peace Lives, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating peace through art and media. . Two schools in New Jersey displayed the first Peace Murals at the United Nations this past March at the Gandhi - King Season of Non-Violence Youth Conference. We just completed a Peace Mural in Suaz, Egypt and have just began one in Peru at a school along the Amazon.
Why I want peace:
I am committed to creating a new conversation for peace in world on behalf of children. I seek to empower children to speak out for the world they want to live in and know that their voices will be heard. It is time for all children to be given the opportunity to grow up free, safe and strong.
Interests and activities:
Having conversations about creating a new conversation for peace. Expanding what is possibility for Where Peace Lives. Enrolling people in having transformation alive and real for everyone.
Something you didn't know about me:
I use to think a "military solution" was the only solution to conflict in the world
How I found mepeace.org:
through the Peace Portal
What I want to achieve here:
To keep expanding the possibility of altering the conversation for peace in the Middle East and the rest of the world. Creating an opportunity to make a difference for the generations that come after me. To live the world a better place before my time in this world is up.

Collaborating for Peace ... the book

Hello Peacemakers,

Today I picked up a journal to begin writing down my view of my life experiences. On its cover are the words "Live, Love and Dance"

I have yet to pick up a pen, but an idea came to mind. What if we all collaborated on publishing a book on how to bring about peace for the children and the next genreations to come? What would be possible if we "shed a little light" on each of our own humanity, bridging all differences and misunderstanding regarding the insanity of conflict and… Continue

ENOUGH

Dear Peacemakers,

There I was, standing amongst several hundred mostly Palestinians chanting anti-Israel slogans along with "Free Gaza" and "Free Palestine" in front of the Isaeli Consulate in New York City.

As I hugged one of the organizers, a Palestinian friend, I whispered in his ears "this is a missed opportunity."

Yes, a missed opportunity.

The point of the protest was to call for an immediate stop to the violence and killing and for an immediate cease fire on both sides.

However, my f… Continue
