Relationship Status:

My personal story:
I'm a student of Global Politics. I have always felt passionately about the Palestinian cause. At a young age, I attended a school with a really high Jewish population, and made some great friends. It really taught me that people are people, no matter what their governments do. So, I believe peace for both Palestinians and Israelis is possible, but we have to come together as a society of humans; and do something about the terible Human Rights abuses that Palestinians have to suffer every day of their lives. I believe this will happen, and I want to be part of the movement that allows it to!
Why I want peace:
Peace is the only way to secure the futures of our children.
Interests and activities:
Politics, Music, Peace!
Something you didn't know about me:
I am half-syrian, half-irish
How I found mepeace.org:
Internet search
What I want to achieve here:
I want to find out what ordinary Palestinians think about democracy...

If you are of Palestinian origin and are happy to answer 5 questions anonymously: Please contact me! I need as many participants before August 15th as possible....

I really appreciate your help :)
Please answer my questionnaire if you have a spare 5 mins!! Last 3 days until I have to give up :(

Thanks Amiera, yes things are getting better now. Some of my problems were solved. As for the picture thing, I don't care a lot. I just wanted people to know that there is no difference between saying I am Palestinian or indicating the same thought using a picture.

Peace

Hey!
Well I think that a lot of the Jews I met were concerned about was being open about being Jewish. I feel that many feel uncomfortable about the anger and violence being stemmed from the Arabs and Muslims there, and they feel that they will get verbally attacked for being pro-Israel.
Many I was told that they can not wear their Star of David or Yamulkah without getting attacked.
Again, I did not experience this ( I had quite a positive experience in London-- I love how diverse it is! :) ), but I am going to find more info about it!

Hey!
I unfortunatly do not go to Harvard-- I am definantly not that smart! :P (I could never get in this life, since I am horrible at standarized tests!!).
I had an internship for the summer in Boston, and I lived in Cambridge for the summer! It was great! :) So sad I have to go back to school!!!
Where in the UK go to school?
I actually went with my Hebrew school in February of 2005, to see what Jewish culture was like there. My tour guide (who grew up in London) told me that I had to keep a low profile about being openly Jewish, since they said that there was a lot of "anti-semitism" there. I found that to be rediculous. What do you think?

I agree Oliver. It is interesting that honest attempts at communication are often greeted in places like this with jeers and patronising and derogatory presumptions about the perceived other's "real" intentions.

Yes, Paul, communication is crucial indeed. "Simplistic slogans" won't help in the long term, that's clear. But honest and clear communication requires courageousness on all sides. Slogans are, in my view, often (as you also imply above) an 'indiv...

It's actually a reflection of the Israeli religious ministry which serves to uphold the dominance of Judaism in Israel. In that respect it's not much different than most middle eastern countries.
