THIS MIGHT BE THE LONGEST BLOG THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN, BUT I NEED A RESPONSE, SO PLEASE READ IT IF YOU CAN!
WOW. What a site. I’ve been trying to promote optimism toward this cause in my hometown for about one year and I submitted my profile a couple weeks ago on a friend’s PC as SOON as the home page opened up (love at first site ) but I haven’t had a chance to try and get some feedback on my situation until now.
I live in Yuma, Arizona (we’re on the same latitude as Israel along the border…

Would be glad to introduce you to folks,
or give you their phone numbers for whenever you get there.
I'm glad to hear that your event was a success.
(Hatzlachah Rabbah!!)
And the murderer is already promising to do it again. And being treated like a new rockstar in Lebanon, and by Muslim Supremacists around the world.
That's a bad deal, to me.
You must understand. Groups like the Muslim Brotherhood have their priorities rooted deeply in the discriminatory quasi-religious Hanbali/Wahhabi ideology, they consider a sin before God to compromise with us. They's really rather die as "martyrs" than compromise with us.
We must run schools to teach a new generation better ideas, and be ready to defend those schools with force, which will be necesasry.
We must enlarge that subset of the Muslim polity that has already learned this lesson. Support true, objective, human rights initiatives
in Muslim society. But no compromising on the basic human rights.
Human rights have all of society's compromise built into them already.
Those who would deny them are the ones who must truly learn what compromise means.
When guests arrive and are received, so to speak.
yedid is a non-romantic friend.
"Me'ushar" is a fine way to say "overjoyed."
It's something more than "sameach." It's masculine.
"Me'usheret" is the feminine version.
One - the better way - is for the PA to get off its butt and really take vigorous action against them. This has even been suggested by some of our Palestinian posters here. It will mean a very messy Palestinian civil war. At least the winner will gain legitimacy and the ability to really control the process thereafter. But it is very unlikely to happen anytime soon.
The other way - less preferable - is for Israel to destroy them in its own very messy war. This would only leave one voice in control of the PA if Israel had the resolve and ability to completely destroy Hamas and the other terror groups. Again, very unlikely.
The only other option is to muddle along in the status quo, letting them subvert every attempt at building real peace, and picking their time for when they (or Iran..) want to start the next very messy conflict on their own (as Hizballah did in 2006).
Not pretty. But if the realistic options are truly limited to
1) war now on our own terms, or
2) war later on their terms,
Its a no-brainer which to choose. I think...
Sad state of affairs for sure.
Partly due to the "West's" (including Israel's) lack of perception as to the Jihadists' real motivation, and complete absence of a coherent policy for defeating them from within their own societies and in their own language.
You pointed out the 800 pound gorilla in the room.
To me, such Jewish 'rejectionists' as exist are marginal in Israeli society.
Such rejectionists as exist in Palestinian and Muslim society are leading community organizations and figures, such as Hamas, Hizballah, the Muslim Brotherhood, and so on.
Hoping for peace without recognizing the need to address them and their supporters is absurd.
If the PA agreed to anything with Israel, the more radical sub-groups would cry "traitor" and "betrayal" and "collaboration." The fighting in Gaza would seem minimal compared with the civil war that would follow any serious attempt by the PA to enforce its agreements with Israel upon other factions.
(Look at Lebanon's total inability to implement UN 1701 for fear of confronting Hizaballah. Same dynamic.)
Saying "end the occupation and you'll end all problems" ignores this inconvenient reality.
There is an Ethiopian-Israeli woman named Ayala N'Gdashet.
She came out with a (Hebrew) CD last year that is really really great.
Also worth considering.
The organization that runs that band is called "Bahalachin."
They have a website under that name.
Bahalachin.org, I think.
The fellow in charge is my good friend, Solomon Akale.
I believe his number is listed on the website.
Thanks,
Yigal
